Raising rabbits was a new endeavor for us in 2017. In the fall of 2018 we’ll begin breeding our newly acquired trio of TAMUK composite rabbits. The TAMUK composites are a variety developed in south Texas with an eye toward heat tolerance, efficient production, and variety of color. We have enjoyed raising rabbits for our own use. With the potential for higher production, we’re now pursuing other avenues for our rabbits including obtaining the necessary grant of exemption to sell meat on a small scale, selling for pet owners who feed raw diets, and selling live rabbits as breeding stock or as pets.
